When to call a technician
If E2 returns after a power reset, the sensor or its wiring needs testing inside the indoor unit. Book a technician.
A typical repair for this code costs $120–$300 in the US, including parts and labor. Prices vary by area and model.
Models this applies to
- Ductless mini-split and wall-mounted split ACs
- Inverter split heat pumps
- Portable air conditioners (US, 2017 and newer)
Codes can differ slightly between models. Your owner's manual is the final word and is available from Haier support.
Common questions
›Is E2 a refrigerant problem?
No. E2 is a sensor fault. The sensor reads the temperature, but the refrigerant itself is not the cause.
›Is a sensor repair expensive?
The sensor itself is usually inexpensive. Most of the cost is the technician's visit and time.
