Likely causes
Listed from most to least common.
- Laundry bunched on one side of the basket
- One heavy item, such as a rug or blanket, washed on its own
- Load too small (one or two items) or too large
- Washer not level
- Shipping materials not removed from a new washer
How to fix the UE code
Step 1: Spread the load evenly
Pause the washer, open the lid or door and spread the laundry evenly around the basket. Untangle sheets and long items.
Step 2: Adjust the load size
Remove some items if the load is very full. Add a towel or two if you are washing only one or two items.
Step 3: Level the washer
Put a level on top. Adjust the feet until the washer sits flat and does not rock.
Step 4: Run Drain & Spin
If the clothes are wetter than normal, run Drain & Spin to finish the spin.
You'll need: Level, adjustable wrench.
