The washer cannot sense water coming in. Usually the supply valves are off. Some top-loaders blink the Wash and Rinse lights instead.
Likely causes
Listed from most to least common.
- Hot or cold water valve behind the washer turned off
- Inlet hose kinked or inlet screen clogged
- Very low house water pressure
- Drain hose pushed too far into the standpipe, so water siphons out
- Pressure (water level) sensor fault
How to fix the H2O SUPPLY code
Unplug the washer or switch it off at the breaker before removing any panel or filter.
Step 1: Turn both valves fully on
Check the hot and cold valves behind the washer. Turn both fully open. Run a nearby faucet to confirm the house has water pressure.
Step 2: Check the inlet hoses
Straighten any kinks. Turn off the valves, unscrew each hose from the washer and rinse the small mesh screens inside the connections. Reattach and turn the valves back on.
Step 3: Check the drain hose
Do not push the drain hose deep into the standpipe or tape it in place. Use the anti-siphon clip that came with the washer.
Step 4: Wait out the lockout
GE says the washer locks out for 4 minutes after this message. It may run the drain pump during that time. Unplugging restarts the timer, so just wait, then start the cycle again.
You'll need: Pliers, towels, flashlight.
