The washer has detected water where it should not be, usually in the base. It is often caused by a drain hose that is not seated properly or by too much detergent creating suds.

Likely causes

Listed from most to least common.

  1. Drain hose not correctly placed or not secured in the standpipe
  2. Loose connection on the inlet or drain hose
  3. Too much detergent, or non-HE detergent, creating excess suds
  4. Clogged detergent drawer overflowing inside the cabinet
  5. Cracked hose or worn door seal

How to fix the LC code

Unplug the washer or switch it off at the breaker before removing any panel or filter.

  1. Step 1: Unplug the washer and turn off the water

Stop the washer, unplug it and close both taps before checking for leaks.

  2. Step 2: Look for the source of water

Check the floor under and around the washer. Note whether water is near the door, the back, or the detergent drawer.

  3. Step 3: Check both hoses

Tighten the inlet hose connections by hand. Make sure the drain hose is secured in the standpipe and is not leaking at the clamp.

  4. Step 4: Clean the detergent drawer

Pull the drawer out, rinse away built-up detergent and clean the opening it sits in.

  5. Step 5: Use the right amount of HE detergent

Use only HE detergent and follow the measuring line. Too much causes suds that can escape into the base.

  6. Step 6: Let it dry and test

Leave the washer unplugged for a few hours so any water in the base dries, then run a Rinse + Spin and watch for leaks.

You'll need: Towels, flashlight, adjustable pliers.

Parts that may need replacing

Check your model number on the label inside the door or on the back before ordering.

When to call a technician

Call a technician if water is leaking from inside the cabinet or under the drum, which can mean a cracked tub, pump seal or internal hose.
