The oven temperature is climbing faster than normal. Samsung says the usual cause is a blocked oven vent on the back of the cooktop, which traps heat inside the oven.

Likely causes

Listed from most to least common.

  1. Pot, baking sheet or foil covering the oven vent on the back of the cooktop
  2. Items stored on the back of the range over the vent
  3. Oven preheated at a very high setting
  4. Faulty oven temperature sensor

How to fix the C-24 code

Unplug the oven or switch it off at the breaker before removing any panel or filter.

  1. Step 1: Clear the vent

Remove anything covering the oven vent at the back of the cooktop. Use oven mitts, as the area can be very hot.

  2. Step 2: Let heat escape

Samsung suggests opening and closing the door a few times for about 3 seconds each, or turning the oven off and leaving the door open for 1 minute.

  3. Step 3: Restart the oven

Turn the oven back on and set the temperature again. If the code returns, reset the breaker for 30 seconds.

You'll need: Oven mitts.

When to call a technician

Call a technician if the vent is clear and C-24 keeps returning. The temperature sensor or control board may need testing.

A typical repair for this code costs Up to $300 in the US, including parts and labor. Prices vary by area and model.

Models this applies to

  • Electric, gas and induction ranges (NE, NX and NSI series)
  • Flex Duo ranges with oven divider
  • Slide-in and freestanding ranges
  • Single and double wall ovens (NV series)

Codes can differ slightly between models. Your owner's manual is the final word and is available from Samsung support.

Common questions

›Where is the oven vent on a Samsung range?

On most freestanding and slide-in ranges it is a slotted grille at the back of the cooktop. Keep pots and pans off it while the oven is on.

›Is C-24 a fault with the oven?

Usually not. In most cases it clears once the vent is uncovered and the oven has released some heat.
