How to fix the F8E1 code
Step 1: Check the water supply
Make sure the valve under the sink that feeds the dishwasher is fully open, and that other taps in the house have water.
Step 2: Check the supply hose
Look for kinks or pinches in the hose behind the toe kick and under the sink. Straighten any you find.
Step 3: Restart the cycle
Once the water is on, press Start. The dishwasher will try to fill and carry on with the cycle.
You'll need: Flashlight.

Common questions
›Is H2O the same as F8E1 on a KitchenAid dishwasher?
Yes. KitchenAid lists both codes for the same problem: the dishwasher is not detecting water. On models without a display, the Clean light flashes 8 times, then once.
›Why did F8E1 show after plumbing work?
The water supply valve under the sink is often left closed after other work. Open it fully and press Start.
