- Buttons pressed together while cleaning the control panel
- Refrigerator left in demo mode from the store
How to fix the OF OF code
Step 1: Find the right buttons
On most models, look at the top two buttons on the left side of the outside control panel. Some newer models also need the top button on the right side.
Step 2: Hold them together
Touch and hold the buttons at the same time for 5 to 8 seconds, until a chime sounds. The chime sounds different from a normal button tap.
Step 3: Check the display
Wait a moment and make sure the display shows normal temperatures. If OF OF comes back, repeat the steps.
Step 4: Check your manual
The button combination varies by model. If the steps above do not work, look up Cooling Off mode in your user manual.
When to call a technician
No repair is needed. If you cannot find the right button combination, contact Samsung support with your model number.
Models this applies to
- French door refrigerators (RF series)
- Family Hub refrigerators
- Side-by-side refrigerators (RS series)
- Top and bottom freezer refrigerators (RT and RB series)
Codes can differ slightly between models. Your owner's manual is the final word and is available from Samsung support.
Common questions
›Why is my Samsung fridge not cooling but the lights work?
It is probably in Cooling Off mode. The display shows OF OF or scrolling bars, and the fridge does not cool until you turn the mode off.
›Will food spoil in Cooling Off mode?
Yes, if it stays on for long. The compressor and fans do not run, so turn the mode off and check food temperatures.
