Samsung lists 39E as an ice maker function error. The ice maker could not complete its cycle, usually because it is frozen up, the water supply is weak or the ice maker itself has failed.
Likely causes
Listed from most to least common.
- Ice maker frozen or jammed with ice
- Low water pressure or a clogged water filter
- Water supply valve closed or line kinked
- Freezer or ice compartment too warm
- Ice maker assembly failed
How to fix the 39E code
Unplug the refrigerator or switch it off at the breaker before removing any panel or filter.
Step 1: Check the ice maker is on
Make sure the ice maker is switched on and the ice bucket is seated correctly. A blinking Ice Off light means the bucket is missing or not seated.
Step 2: Check the water flow
Dispense water into a measuring cup for 10 seconds. Samsung expects at least 6 ounces. If you get less, replace the water filter and check that the supply valve is open and the line is not kinked.
Step 3: Clear ice clumps
Empty the ice bucket, break up any fused ice and remove ice jammed in the ice maker. Dry the bucket before putting it back.
Step 4: Wait for ice
Close all doors fully and allow up to 24 hours for ice production to return to normal.
You'll need: Measuring cup, towels.
