Likely causes
Listed from most to least common.
- Too many suds from dish soap or too much detergent
- Dishwasher not level or door out of line
- Large items catching and holding water
- Water inlet valve not shutting off
How to fix the FE code
Unplug the dishwasher or switch it off at the breaker before removing any panel or filter.
Step 1: Turn off power and water
Switch off at the breaker and close the supply valve under the sink if water is escaping.
Step 2: Check for suds
Use only dishwasher detergent, never hand dish soap. Clear any suds before the next cycle.
Step 3: Check the level
Place a level on the tub opening and adjust the feet so the unit sits level.
Step 4: Reload and retry
Load large plates and pots upside down, restore power and water, then run a cycle.
You'll need: Level, adjustable wrench, towels.

When to call a technician
If FE returns with no suds and a level unit, the inlet valve may be stuck open. Have a technician check it.

Common questions
›Is FE the same as AE on an LG dishwasher?
They are related. LG groups FE with AE as leak and overfill errors, and an overfill can trigger both.
›Can a dishwasher that is not level cause FE?
Yes. If it tilts, water can pool to one side and the sensors may read too much water.
