Likely causes
Listed from most to least common.
- Door lock motor not turning
- Faulty lock switch or door switch
- Latch cam or rod binding
- Loose wiring between the lock and the control
- Controls locked or the range in demo mode
How to fix the F90 code
Unplug the oven or switch it off at the breaker before removing any panel or filter.
Step 1: Let the oven cool
If the code appeared during or after self-clean, wait until the oven is fully cool. The door stays locked while the oven is hot.
Step 2: Try to unlock
Press Unlock or hold Off/Cancel as your Use and Care Guide describes. Follow any on-screen directions.
Step 3: Reset the power
Switch the range off at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds, then turn it back on. This clears most false door lock codes.
Step 4: Do not force the door
Never pull on a locked door. Wait for the lock to release on its own after the reset.
Parts that may need replacing
Check your model number on the label inside the door or on the back before ordering.

When to call a technician
If the code returns or the door stays locked after a power reset, the lock motor or switch has likely failed. Do not force the door or try to bypass the lock.
A typical repair for this code costs $200–$400 in the US, including parts and labor. Prices vary by area and model.
Models this applies to
- Gallery electric and gas ranges

Codes can differ slightly between models. Your owner's manual is the final word and is available from Frigidaire support.
Common questions
›What do F91, F92, F93 and F94 mean?
They are all door lock faults. Each one marks a different timeout, such as too long to unlock or too many lock attempts. The fix is the same: cool, reset and call for service if it returns.
›Why did my oven lock after self-clean?
The door stays locked until the oven cools to a safe temperature. If it is cool and still locked with an F9 code, the lock motor may have stuck.
