The oven control cannot read the oven temperature sensor because the circuit is open. The usual cause is a failed sensor or a loose or burned wire at the sensor connector behind the oven.

Likely causes

Listed from most to least common.

  1. Failed oven temperature sensor
  2. Loose sensor connector behind the oven back wall
  3. Damaged or burned sensor wiring
  4. Faulty electronic oven control

How to fix the F30 code

Unplug the oven or switch it off at the breaker before removing any panel or filter.

  1. Step 1: Let the oven cool

Turn the oven off and wait until it is fully cool.

  2. Step 2: Reset the power

Switch the range off at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds, then turn it back on.

  3. Step 3: Check the sensor

With the power still off at the breaker, look at the thin sensor rod on the upper back wall of the oven. If it is bent or touching the wall, note it for the repair.

You'll need: Flashlight.

Parts that may need replacing

Check your model number on the label inside the door or on the back before ordering.

When to call a technician

If F30 returns after a reset, the sensor or its wiring needs testing with a meter. Book a technician unless you are comfortable replacing the sensor with the range unplugged.

A typical repair for this code costs $150–$300 in the US, including parts and labor. Prices vary by area and model.

Models this applies to

  • Gallery electric and gas ranges
  • Professional ranges and wall ovens
  • Standard freestanding ranges with electronic oven control

Codes can differ slightly between models. Your owner's manual is the final word and is available from Frigidaire support.

Common questions

›Why does F10 sometimes show before F30?

When the sensor circuit is open, the control can first read it as a runaway temperature. Both codes point to the same sensor.

›Can I bake with an F30 code?

No. Without a working sensor the oven cannot control its temperature, so it will not heat.
